Oral Non-Peptide GLP-1 Agonist

Orforglipron

An oral, small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist rather than an injectable peptide, studied for whether a pill can reproduce the weight-loss effect of injectable incretin therapy without the manufacturing and cold-chain burden of a peptide.

Status note: The FDA approved orforglipron as Foundayo for adults with obesity on April 1, 2026 (verified Oct 6, 2026). That is a prescription product; it is not the research-grade material this site covers.

Not available through research-peptide suppliers, and the approved prescription product is a different thing. Semaglutide is the closest injectable GLP-1 comparator in stock.

Mechanism

Activates the GLP-1 receptor through a non-peptide small molecule that survives oral administration, avoiding the enzymatic degradation that normally forces GLP-1-class compounds into injectable form. Clinical data are used to judge whether oral dosing changes the tolerability profile seen with injectable agonists.
